E-Commerce-solution of INTELLECT will be introduced in Dallas on the ICTEC 2000
The OptiNet Solutions GmbH and BIBA were invited to the third international Conference on Telecommunications and electronics Commerce (ICTEC) in Dallas, in order to present new innovative developments concerning E-Commerce and E-Business. The international European project INTELLECT (Intelligent Online Configuration of Products by Customers of Electronic Shop Systems) will be presented of the OptiNet Solutions / BIBA and discussed with the drawer public. With this participation they expects the knowledge exchange with the USA and the utilisation of mutual synergies. That is also the reason, why the European union (EU) promotes this initiative of the INTELLECT consortium and give financially supported.
In the last years a completely new business model has been developed in the e-Commerce surroundings. Today nearly each enterprise in the USA uses or assumes e-Commerce in this topic or in any other form. Even telecommunications advantages and automatic processes force dramatically the change within most diverse areas of the industry. The spectrum reaches from banks and institutes for financing up to music shops and maintenance. Today the topics telecommunications (as well as information technology - IT) and e-Commerce (EC) are only in the approximating phase, anyhow they can already use significant advantages, if they bring along the understanding and the experience for both ranges of topics. The necessity is available in any case and the sensitisation in the academic and industrial surroundings is only advanced. The OptiNet possesses today already this knowledge and offers integrated solutions, from the IT platform to e-Commerce-application, whereby more services for the customer are generated and the advantages of the synergy between IT and EC are used.
The traditional sequential process to develop new technology innovations to implement afterwards the transfer of technology is not existent today. For this reason dialogs and direct communication in this surroundings are crucial for universities, users and the industry, in order to bring parallel processes in course. First, It is importantly to understood the entire span of telecommunications and e-Commerce to discuss in forums, to put necessary interactions, so that a knowledge alignment occurred and the know-how is divided in a broad community.
The ICTEC 2000 was started up, in order to represent this communication platform. The target is to bring academic- and industrial-researcher or -developer together in order to establish a continuous, annual base, to discuss new technologies and their effects on the market. This contains also technical functions, which must be solved, in order to increase the effectiveness and the efficiency of IT and EC. Therefore the conference will combine Research TRACK and Industrial TRACK, by presenting technical and practical experiences. Additionally there will by plenary speaker and an exhibition, which demonstrates new developments.
The OptiNet presents the project INTELLECT, whose main aim is, to unite available electronics Commerce systems and furnish with a surface, which illustrates the products (wares and goods) as realistically as possible (e.g. over a 3D - illustration). The users in this project come from France, Germany, Austria and Greece. The co-ordination takes over the OptiNet Solutions GmbH, located in Bremen. Beside two bicycle dealers in Austria and also a computer dealer in Greece are present, who will start three pilots. Thereby the results of the project shouldn't be limited to a certain kind of product, but been non-standard adaptable, in order to possess relevance also for other industrial sectors. This e-Commerce project will cover thereby the area Business to Business (B2B) as well as Business to Customer (B2C) . User friendliness, simple access to the services, own configuration of the products with integrated Help-desk system, security concerning authentication, identification and privacy as well as a high quality information management will be transferred with INTELLECT. International standards were evaluated, tested and used as well as developed new procedures, if necessary. Focus of INTELLECT is in each case that the solutions must be based on international standards, so that an interoperability can be guaranteed. With development of this system the final users will be integrated, in order to achieve maximal acceptance and develop user friendly software. For this reason Special Interest Groups (SIG) in different countries will be formed, which will supplied continuously with knowledge and use the first test platforms. After end of the project in the beginning of 2002 a commercialisation of the developed product is aimed at.
The emphasis of the lecture as well as the technical report are status of the project, request of the users, conception of the software and security concerning data encryption and privacy. Additionally all modules of INTELLECT will be presented, whereby the Help-desk system with inclusion of Voice over IP (VoIP) is described more detailed.
