Help-desk: Call directly your help-desk agent

 

This site makes it possible that you can call directly for help if you have any questions about the project INTELLECT. But, there are some limitations by the used third party software NetMeeting from Microsoft:

NetMeeting uses not static ports. It uses ports between 1024 and 65535 which make it impossible to communicate through a firewall system. Also it is not possibleto use NetMeeting with Network Address Translation (NAT) of Cisco's routers. This case is well-known from Cisco, but not solved, yet. Also ActiveX is necessary to enbed NetMeeting into this web site. Therefore only Microsoft's Internet Explorer work with NetMeeting. Netscape is not possible, because its forbid ActiveX for security reasons.

You need for the communication the tool NetMeeting (1,66 MByte) which you can download from this site. Please also allow ActiveX and tune your NetMeeting tool with the necessary parameters. Then you can start with your video and audio communication.

Please note that this call-me-button has been implemented only for test reasons, because the INTELLECT consortium members are evaluate different real-time third party tools for browser integration. Therefore it can happened that nobody call you back if you try it.

Despite of the restricted settings that would possibly improve communication (e.g. more accurate audio settings) NetMeeting is offering a sufficient quality of audio and video. Nevertheless with communication over low bandwidth networks like the Internet NetMeeting would fall behind in quality aspects of video conferencing. The reason is that the Internet does not have any QoS features.
