First prototype available!

July 20th, 2001

The prototype of the project INTELLECT is available now. If interested people want to play with the prototype, a direct link to our INTELLECT server is here available, which you can use. But keep in mind it is only a prototype, what means that we have to go on with the development of further features, embed more user requirements, and reach a more stable status as now. Therefore it is current only a beta version, which is maybe sometimes not available online.

You need at first a 3D Java extension to see the 3D product and to be able to configure it. Therefore, the client must have installed:

  1. Install the java plugin (with the java JRE 1.3.1): file j2re-1_3_1-win-i.exe (8,1 Mbyte)
  2. Install the Java3D software (not a beta version): file java3d-1_2_1_01-win32-opengl-rt.exe (2,5 Mbyte) for Windows 98/NT/2000 (also a Solaris version is available)
  3. Ensure that it does install in the right Virtual Machine (VM) the one that is used by the plug-in. (usually c:\program files\javasoft\jre)
  4. Have only one Java Run Environment on your computer!
  5. Add the vrml97.jar (317 Kbyte) to the classpath of the client. This can be done by several way either to the classpath in the autoexec.bat or in the /lib/ext directory of the right VM (ONLY AVAILABLE FOR BRUSSELS AND INTELLECT PROTOTYPE NOW!!!)
After the short installation phase you can play with the different available prototypes!
