INTELLECT Kick Off Meeting

On January the 20th and 21st the first informal meeting of the partner from the international European project INTELLECT (Intelligent Online Configuration of Products by Customer of Electronic Shop Systems) took place.

The primary object of this project will be to admit existing Electronic Commerce Systems together and to provide this new shop system with a graphical interface, which illustrates the products (different goods) as realistically as possible (e.g. over a 3D - illustration). The users in this project come from France, Germany, Austria and Greece. The OptiNet GmbH in Lilienthal/Bremen assumes the co-ordination. Beside two bicycle dealers in Austria which will execute two pilots, also a computer dealer in Greece, will likewise start a pilot. The results of the project should not be limited thereby to a certain sort of products, but should be individual adaptable, in order to possess also relevance for other industrial sectors. This e-Commerce project will cover thereby the area Business to Business as well as Business to Customer. User friendliness, simple access to the services, own configuration of the products with integrated help desk, security concerning authentication, identification and privacy as well as a high quality information management is transferred with INTELLECT. In this project international standards will be evaluated, tested and used. Even new procedures will be developed if necessarily. Focus of INTELLECT is that the solutions must be based on international standards, so that an interoperability can be guaranteed. During developing the system the final users are integrated, in order to achieve maximal acceptance and develop user friendly software. On this account different user groups in different countries are formed, which are continuously supplied with knowledge . They will also use the first test platforms. After the end of the project in 2002 a commercialisation of the developed product is aspired.

After the first steps were decided, on 21.-22 February 2000 a vision Workshop was organised in Vienna, on which the available conception for an implementation of the shop was discussed with the partners and the available users (HiTEC, INTERSET and BLAUWERK). On this technical meeting the primary objects were the correct start specifications for an international Shop. Subsequently, user groups in the countries France, Germany, Greece and Austria were created, which are presented continuously the results, in order to continuously attendant the developing software product.
