INTELLECT: First Project Board Meeting (PMB) atAtlantide in Rennes

15.-16. June 2000

On June the 15th in Rennes(France) a further technical meeting as well as the first Project Management Board (PMB) took place, in order to determine the systems and software for the project . The main thing was to advance the specifications and also to prepare the first Project Review of the European Union commission. The following agenda was processed in the meeting

1st Day : Technical meeting

2nd Day: Technical meeting and project management board (PMB)

The central question of the first daily was the search for responses concerning the technologies and platforms which can be used. While the use of current and future systems were the center of attention, likewise costs, experiences of the project partners and developmentstatus were critical. Additionally all past specifications of the different modules were presented in each case by that responsible partners and discussed strongly. On the second day the user were in the foreground, whose responses to the questionnaires were presented and analysed. Particular controversially the basic approach was discussed to develop a product for all different request the participating user would have. That would possibly mean the product would have to cover too many performances at one time.

Project Board Meeting in Rennes in the spaces of Atlantide

Likewise the mass CyberH@lles 2000 introduced itself, which took place in France already three times and this mass will take place at the end of the year again. The organizers of CyberH@lles 2000 are very interested to participate in the project or to transpose INTELLECT as an international Workshop, enabled by discussions with Atlantide. Up to now a uniform strategy or a CorporateIdentity is missing for the project INTELLECT, in order to introduce itself collaborative. This will be the next task. In the next weeks it will give a decision over the participation, after the costs and possibilities were evaluated.

Likewise possible co-operation projects were presented, which concern Fashion-Me and e-Taylor. These two projects were detected in the Clustering meeting in Brussels and could become productive partners to complete the own portfolio. This refers mainly to the topic "Avatar Technologies", which is needed by Atlantide to realise the 3D-Modell. Further topics such as XML, Security and Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) are likewise addressed in other projects and could accelerate the development of the own software solution. The cooperation with other projects is not always an advantage, as practice showed, because the administrative expenditure could increases enormously. Here the INTELLECT - group agreed that the Workpackage Leader decides, whether they want to co-operate with other projects. If this is required, the project manager Uwe Kaufmann should be contacted.

On the roads of Rennes on Social Event route

Likewise INTELLECT must think over marketing of the developed products as well as the license rights of the individual partners. This is already important at this early project status, because the marketingrights and market strategies are decisive for a successful termination of the project. There will be a draft-paper in the nexttime, which is improved and extended by each partner. Further the methodology for workpackage two (WP2) and associated workackages were discussed.

Finally the meeting was very efficiently and contentwise promising, because all of the partners assumed high-motivates their functions. Also interesting discussions occurred, which will guarantee further progress within INTELLECT. Finally St. MountMichel and St. Malo were visited, in order to end the meeting and enjoy the sun. After a work load of approx. 20 hours on two days that was surely necessary.
